CEDARS WATCHING SUNSET

Oil on linen 40X20

Coming home from Elodie Farm north of Hillsborough, the sun was

setting and the cedars looked like they were watching the sun set.

Water lilies are synonymous with Monet and it would seem crazy to paint them, but water lilies, their colors, shapes and beauty are so seductive to painters. They also live in water who’s reflections and hues are so transient that they, too, dare you to try and capture their illusive beauty.

Inspiration:

Several months ago a talkative feline began visiting our home. It would follow me to the studio, walking between my legs and talking the whole time.

I was a bit concerned the songbirds that visit our feeders may be at risk. But I soon realized the cat was not the bit interested in the birds and likewise. He was mostly after a conversation.

Inspiration:

The morning sun was the inspiration for this painting.

My husband and I have gotten into the habit of having a cup of coffee outside on the porch in the morning. It’s a quiet time to greet the day. With birds chirping and the sun bringing all the colors to life. The morning sun was the inspiration for this painting.

MONET’S DEFECTORS

According to Plato, Atlantis was a beautiful and prosperous island lying near the Pillars of Hercules that conquered many parts of Western Europe and Africa. Although its existence is debated, its name inspires writers and has become a symbol for advanced prehistoric lost civilizations.

Atlantis was also the name of a space shuttle. The final space shuttle mission ended July 21, 2011 when Atlantis rolled to a stop at its home port, NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida.

Despite all the activity of the fresh water marshes (nesting habitats for waders, waterfowl, frogs, fish and other species, water purifier, flood controller, etc.), they evoke a beauty of quiet and serenity.
