Cedar Hill Studio exhibits works by Jude Lobe
WAYNESVILLE, N.C. – Oct. 6, 2019 – PRLog — Jude Lobe has brought her River series artworks to Cedar Hill Studio. The River series are a group of river rock and metal sculptures with enameled butterflies and river pebbles on hammered copper which is sculpted on wood structures. Lobe works as a graphic designer and visual artist. Nature is her muse. A love of nature has been a continual thread throughout her life and Lobe’s paintings, enamels and copper sculptures are inspired by the natural environment. “My desire is to capture the emotion of the scene with texture, brush strokes, glazes and colors chosen from the palette of the environment I’m painting. It’s the memory of the place or experience that I want to express.” Lobe’s process begins with a walk outside, then followed with quick sketches and color notes. Then back at the studio to begin creating. Images remembered become cold wax & earth pigments paintings or encaustic artworks. Sometimes the creations turn into copper structures like the River series.
Lobe began as a visual artist in her youth concentrating on painting. After college she entered Peace Corps where she came in contact with Philippine weavers and developed a love of textures and has incorporated that tactile effect into her artworks. Upon returning, Lobe worked at EPA following her passion to safeguard our natural resources. After grad school Lobe got married and had kids. After a hiatus staying home raising her children, she returned to art working as a graphic designer while continuing studies in various art mediums like enameling and pottery. In 2006 she joined with 14 other artists and opened an artists’ owned and operated art gallery and began working as a full-time artist. The gallery, Hillsborough Gallery of Arts, is now in its 15th year of successful operation.
Also available at Cedar Hill Studio are Jude Lobe’s cold wax and earth pigment paintings and encaustic. Encaustic is a hot wax medium made with a mixture of bees wax and damar crystals. The artists mixes earth pigments with the medium and paints on a hard surface.
